50TH ANNIVERSARY SIGHTINGS
FRIDAY, 19 NOVEMBER 2010
SOUTH GARE, RIVER TEES
I must go
down to the sea again was an imperative requirement to
commemorate my 50th anniversary!
As Anne and I left home the weather was as
forecast - grey cloud, so no great expectations of taking brilliant
pictures! However, as we drove down the road towards the South Gare our
first glimpse of the lighthouse seemed to show it shrouded in fog
(shades of 1960!) and potentially disappointing! However, although mist
and fog ebbed and flowed during our few hours there I did manage to
successfully record the few shipping movements that took place. It has
to be said, however, the final results do owe something to modern day
enhancement of digital photographs! (works better on some colours than
others - black hulls tidy up quite well, red hulls can sometimes
produce somewhat "artificial" results - but do we care?)
The day's sightings were:
